Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Program

Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Program

Ashley has worked at Hyundai and Toyota/Volvo of Keene for over three years.  She is very committed to helping rescue Australian Cattle Dogs from kill shelters.  She works with ACDRA, the Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association.  Ashley fosters dogs and gives them a home and companionship until they are adopted.  She has been fostering for about two years and has found homes for 5 dogs.  When Ashley takes in a dog she puts in lots of time and hard work to train them and ensure that they are ready to enter the comfort of your home.  You can help Ashley by adopting one of her dogs or by visiting www.acdra.org  to find one of the many other dogs they have that are ready for adoption.  Ashley can be reached directly by calling 603-354-5000 or email her at aclark@fentonautsales.com .

Here is a little bit from Ashley about what she does and why she does it!
I have been fostering for ACDRA for a little over two years now and love what I do. Throughout that time I have found homes for 6 different dogs, all touched my heart while they were with me. Cattle dogs are my favorite dogs to foster because they are so intelligent and love pleasing their human companions. They also have their stubborn streaks and like to think for themselves but it can make for some interesting play times! :) ACDRA has been organized since 2002 and has saved well over 200 cattle dogs from being euthanized. We have very few foster homes but do what we can with what we have. If you would like to learn more about the rescue or look at the different dogs we have please visit www.acdra.org.

Ashley's Recent Success Stories!

Meet Sparrow, Ashley's most recent foster dog!
Sparrow is a recent foster dog through the Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association. He was in a kill shelter in PA and was due to be euthanized on a Friday night.  Ashley stepped in at 3 pm and said she would take him in, he only had 4 hours left. Since then he has been learning how to behave and be a wonderful family pet. He loves playing in the water and hanging around the farm. He is so full of energy and life. Sparrow is extremely intelligent and learns everything very quickly.  Ashley was so happy to find him that special forever home!

Ashley's Current Foster Dog

Meet Ashe:

Ashe is a 4-5 year old gorgeous blue cattle dog. His coat is longer than an average cattle dog and a very interesting "ash" color. He is UTD on all shots and is also trained. He knows basic commands; sit, down, wait, okay, paw (with both paws). He is also great off leash and sticks right at home.

Ashe LOVES to play ball. He lives for this. He will even play soccer if he has a big ball by pushing it back to you with his nose. He is great with other dogs but would prefer to be the only dog in the house because inside he doesn't like to share his toys, bones, and crate. He has been okay with the farm animals. From outside the gate he likes to terrorize them but once inside with them he just sniffs them and runs around like a happy boy. Sometimes with the horses he will go after them but he has been kicked once and has been a lot better since them. It's a work in progress.

After taking Ashe to the vets it was confirmed that he is almost completely blind in his left eye. His right eye is doing great and he has no problems catching a ball in mid air. The only problem he does have is some gates he runs into or doors if it's dark. Also if you throw something right at him it will hit him in the head. Ashe also has knee problems. What happens is his knees will pop out of place. As long as he gets lots of exercise this will be no problem because the muscle holds it into place. You can't even tell he has a problem. It could get worse once he is old but nothing that needs to be of concern at the moment.
Despite his couple problems Ashe is a great dog.

He can go everywhere in the car with you and has been great with everyone he meets. He walks right up and sits in front of you to be pet. He doesn't get on any furniture and likes to be cuddled and hugged here and there but isn't over the top with it. He will follow you everywhere though. He likes to always know what it going on.

If you think you could be the perfect active home for Ashe please go to www.acdra.org and fill out an adoption application. Any questions you can contact Ashley at ashclrk88@aol.com .Ashe is currently located in Jaffrey, NH. Please keep in mind he needs to stay active to stay in his healthy state. He needs a more country setting with no other dogs and preferably no children due to him being blind in one eye.
